Hairdressing was my hobby before I made it my career. I attended the Vermont College of Cosmetology in Burlington, Vermont in 1987. I graduated with a Redken Certificate for color and was top of my class.
I have been a two-time Redken Specialist and attended the Redken Exchange on Fifth Avenue in New York City. I have attended advanced classes and shows all over the US for more than 35 years—a minimum of two each year.
I first worked at Sweeney Todds in Rutland for six years, then at Avanti's full service salon for the past 23 years. We consult regularly, have meetings and work as a very large team. It is an "out of the box", fun, upbeat salon with 13 stylists and friends!
At age 55, I helped launch a new cosmetology program at Stafford Technical Center, where I have been teaching cosmetology from 2011 to 2016. I also worked part-time at Avanti while earning 80 college credits in education over 4 years. It was a wonderful experience, but I have decided to re-ignite my cosmetology career and pursue a national board color certification. I hope to still apprentice new stylists as I have in the past and continue to learn and share. While teaching, I took the students to the New York City International Beauty Symposium each year and brought in education for them from the industry.
My fellow stylists and students volunteer each year for "Catwalk for a Cause", a fashion show to benefit the United Way. I have been lead organizer of cut-a-thons for cancer and animal shelters. It's so important to "pay it forward"!
I enjoy making people feel confident and satisfied by communicating, using their unique hair and facial characteristics to enhance their look.
Come and visit me for a professional, straight-forward and pleasurable experience and leave feeling wonderful and well-served.
